The Future of Metal Finishing Is Bright! A Look at Our Newest Capabilities

By Tamea Franco In Uncategorized No comments

Our commitment to continuous improvement runs deep here at Global Metal Finishing. Between our recent expansion, equipment upgrades, and training opportunities, our facilities are practically unrecognizable from what they were this time last year. This transformation of our physical space and expansion of our capabilities sets us up better than ever before to act as a true one-stop shop for metal finishing services

From our brand-new paint line and laser engraving offering to our improved masking procedures, we’re invested in the future to better serve our customers.

Expanding Our Metal Finishing Capabilities

Introducing Cerakote, Paint, and Primer

One of the most significant changes at GMF is the addition of Cerakote and paint and primer services. This investment was driven by customer needs; many projects, particularly in aerospace, require chemical conversion and anodize coatings to be followed by primer within 24 to 72 hours. For this reason, we installed a state-of-the-art paint booth and secured our air permit to offer in-house priming and painting.

Electroless Nickel Line

A core part of our growth strategy involves listening to our customers and their needs. Multiple conversations uncovered a demand for electroless nickel plating, so we’ve added a dedicated electroless nickel line to meet those needs.

Masking Improvements

In addition, we’ve significantly expanded our masking department. In doing so, we upgraded equipment for intricate masking jobs so we can continue taking on the projects that other metal finishers might shy away from.

But we didn’t stop there; to handle this capability better than ever, we increased our team of full-time masking specialists. With more people on staff, we can ensure shorter lead times, even on the most complex masking projects.

Laser Engraving for Precision and Efficiency

GMF is often the last stop before a part reaches its final user. To enhance our metal finishing offerings, we’ve added a laser engraver for part identification, serialization, and branding. This ensures our customers receive a complete, finished product without having to send parts to another vendor for marking.

Wastewater System Relocation and Modernization

To accommodate our new electroless nickel line, we’ve relocated and upgraded our in-house wastewater system. Our new space is brighter, more efficient, and designed for better chemical monitoring. This upgrade to our infrastructure demonstrates our commitment to responsible metal finishing as we expand our service offerings.

How Our Expansions Make GMF an Ideal Metal Finishing Partner

Customer-Driven Upgrades

Our investments aren’t just about growing what we are capable of; they’re about meeting customer demands. By conducting in-depth business reviews, we consistently identify the services our customers need most and take action to provide them.

Comprehensive Training for Our Team

At GMF, we recently held a blueprint reading course for our production team, masking specialists, dry-to-pack team, and account managers. This training ensures that our people can quickly identify alloy specifications, revision changes, and general process requirements and offers them the expertise needed to interpret even the most complex blueprints.

Additionally, to ensure we’re delivering the highest quality coatings, we sent our lead production manager to a Cerakote training course in North Carolina.

By deepening our expertise, our team can effectively improve efficiency and reduce the risk of errors in each of our metal finishing offerings, such as the passivation of stainless steel, anodizing services, and more.

More Capabilities = More Value for Customers

Every investment we make is designed to streamline the finishing process for our customers. With expanded metal finishing services, our customers can:

  • Consolidate processes with one trusted vendor, reducing logistical challenges.
  • Rely on GMF’s expertise to meet strict quality and compliance standards.
  • Feel confident knowing that every part we finish meets exact specifications.

At GMF, we’re excited about the future of metal finishing! Our customers’ success is our success, and we remain committed to expanding our capabilities to meet their evolving needs.

Stay tuned for future updates from GMF, and don’t hesitate to contact us to get started on your next project!
