Engineered Finishes for Critical Applications
Engineered Finishes for Critical Applications
Our core finishing services meet the most demanding industry standards for corrosion resistance, wear protection, and compliance. Whether you’re plating surgical instruments or anodizing aerospace components, we apply the right process with exacting control — every finish is engineered to spec, every certification in place.

Anodizing
GMF’s anodizing process enhances the surface of aluminum parts for durability, corrosion resistance, and non-conductive surface. We offer clear, black and dyed finishes with tight control over thickness and appearance, making this a reliable solution for precision components across regulated industries.

Hardcoat Anodizing
Our Type III hard-coat anodizing creates an exceptionally hard dark grey, wear-resistant surface ideal for extreme environments. We take no shortcuts in providing the thicker oxide layer which offers superior abrasion resistance while maintaining dielectric properties, making it a top choice for parts that must perform under stress.
Spec: MIL-A-8625 and MIL-PRF-8625, Type III, Class I (non-dyed), Class II (black or color specific) Sulfuric Acid (See other specs)
Applications: Submarine, defense, firearm, and aerospace components

Chemical Conversion Coatings
We offer two types of chemical conversion coatings; hexavalent chrome Cr6 (CrIV) and trivalent chrome Cr3 (CrIII). Hex-chrome coatings form a uniform, self-healing layer, while tri-chrome is RoHS-compliant meeting European environmental requirements. Both serve as an excellent primer for paint or powder coat adhesion.
Spec: MIL-DTL-5541, Class1A or Class 3, ASTM-B-449 (See other specs)
Applications: Pre-primer coating, electrical connectors, aircraft frames

Passivation
Spec: ASTM A967, QQ-P-35
Applications: Surgical tools, valves, medical and aerospace hardware

Electroless Nickel
Spec: Uniform, auto-catalytic coating for wear and corrosion resistance
Applications: Aerospace sensors, defense electronics, precision shafts

Cerakote
Cerakote is a ceramic-based thin-film coating that delivers minimal abrasion, resistances — with full control over finish, texture, and color. We apply it to any metal and polymer substrates, making it a versatile choice for functional and cosmetic durability. Many firearms manufacturers want Cerakote applied after a hard coat.
Spec: Thin-film ceramic coating with color and gloss control
Applications: Firearms, optics housings, tools, optics

Primer & Paint
Spec: MIL-PRF-233377 and MIL-STD-186 (Click here for more details)( compliant paint systems
Applications: Defense enclosures, aerospace brackets, marked assemblies
