Hardcoat Anodizing

Engineered for Maximum Wear Resistance and Surface Strength

Hardcoat Anodizing for Extreme Durability and Surface Hardness

Our Type III anodizing process creates a thick, wear-resistant oxide layer that protects aluminum parts in the harshest environments. With enhanced abrasion resistance and excellent dielectric properties, GMF’s hardcoat anodizing is ideal for high-stress applications in defense, aerospace, and industrial markets.

Why Hardcoat Matters

When components face impact, friction, or extreme conditions, standard anodizing isn’t enough. Hardcoat anodizing (Type III) builds a thicker, denser oxide layer that:

Dramatically improves abrasion and wear resistance
Withstands harsh environments without compromising tolerance
Maintains electrical insulation properties

• MIL-A-8625
• MIL-PRF-8625F (Sulfuric Anodize)
  - Type III, Class 1 (non-dyed) or 2 (black or dye specific)
• MIL-STD-171 (general finishing spec)
• ASTM B580
• AMS 2482

Firearm or aerospace components, housings and industrial tools

Global Metal Finishing holds a Type 07 FFL for serialized components, offers precision control over hardness levels, and ensures complete traceability with full process documentation.
